September 2
The Higginson Family Reunion Part II

As stated above, we decided to continue the Higginson Family Reunion the next day, Sunday September 2nd, because there were so many people who had wanted to participate in the talent show and we couldn't fit them all in. Most of these were little kids from Brian's brothers and sisters families. So we decided to go over to Brian's sister Amy's house and hold Part II of the talent show there. It turned out to be a TON of fun! (Above are pictures of a beautiful rainbow that was shining right outside Amy's front door that afternoon).

Amy and her husband Brenden have a beautiful home with a very large back yard. So after the rains subsided, all the kids went out to play in their back yard. It was a beautiful evening with a gorgeous sunset.

Here is Uncle Jared with some of the kids just enjoying the weather and having some fun.

They have a really neat area with two trampolines and a sand box and playground equipment for the kids. So naturally, all the kids wanted to go out and play on the trampolines, especially since it had just rained. It was cute to see them file in with wet bums and clothing afterwards!

While the kids were outside, the adults enjoyed some relaxing conversation inside. Brian's brother Michael was very kind to entertain Vaughn by holding up a globe for Vaughn to spin over and over and over! Any time Brian takes Vaughn to the library, Vaughn makes sure to direct them over to the section with a globe so he can spin it a few times. I guess the habit stuck!

We finally began the talent show, and I can't remember what order everyone went in. Here is our niece Maren as she participates in a little skit she and her cousin Riley put together. Maren is one of the most thoughtful girls ever. Just recently she crocheted me an apron!

Sorry about some of these pictures. I didn't want to put the flash on because it would interrupt the performances. So some of them are going to be out of focus and weird. Anyway, here is our sister-in-law Marci trying to enjoy the show while her son Dallin and our son Vaughn wrestled in her lap. It was pretty funny to watch! I think I took this during a performance of three of the nieces dancing to The Little Mermaid theme song. It was ADORABLE!

Here is Big Jim, a brother-in-law. He really is a big guy. He used to play football for BYU. This is his face as he was watching The Little Mermaid Dance. Jim always has a smile on his face, and looks like he's ready to tell a joke at all times! He is a really fun guy. He is the kind of person that makes everyone feel good about themselves and welcome. We are lucky to know him.

It is rare to get a picture of Mom Higginson, so I had to put this in. It was just too bad that the lighting was so bad! Mom Higginson loves to watch the little grandchildren perform. She truly enjoys watching her grandchilren grow and learn, and it was fun to watch her enjoy the show.

Julie and I were able to sing a duet together, which I enjoyed very much. I love to sing with Julie because she makes me sound very good! And I think we did an okay job of coordinating our outfits too!

Brian's sister Amy has been writing a lot of music lately. That evening, she decided to sing a song she had dedicated to her brother Michael. Here is Amy introducing her song. For me, this was one of the highlights of the night.

Here is Michael trying not to cry too hard as he listens to Amy's song. It was quite a touching thing to watch. At the end of the song, there weren't many dry eyes in the room.

And of course, here is Michael and Amy hugging afterwards. This was a very special moment for everyone to see!

Brian's sister Rebekah was (I think) the final act. She had been working on a very difficult solo piece, and we were excited to hear it!

I loved this face that Bekah pulled! She and Dad Higginson had never run through the song together, so poor Dad was sight reading a difficult piece of music. I think it threw Bekah off a little bit, as her face would suggest!

In the end though, she and Dad Higginson both made it through, and Bekah did a great job! She finished with a bang and we loved it! Great job Bekah!

I had to throw this picture in as well. This is Brian's brother Michael again with his oldest child Michaela. She was so excited to show us this dress she had gotten at a monthly sale up in Boise Idaho. The sale is called The Quarter Sale. Yes, you heard it right. That means that whatever was there was only 25 cents! So she got this beautiful dress for only a quarter! Higginsons are known for their ability to find great deals, but I think this one probably tops this list for a while!!!

We had such a great time during Part II of the Higginson talent show. Thanks to everyone who made it so fun! Afterwards we were all pretty tired, and that's where my "One for the Road" picture comes from. Here's my nephew Sammy tuckered out!

Here's one for the road...

Love, Lisa

This looks like a fun reunion, too. Especially would have loved to see the talent show.
