(I put a copy of our gender ultrasound up at the top here because it's easier to see up here for some reason. It is also later in this entry).
Star Wars, The Ultrasound and Corsets!
February 17th - February 22nd, 2008
On Monday, February 18th, I was in the middle of bottling hamburger when I got a phone call from a guy we had contacted about his Star Wars arcade. I immediately called Brian to ask him if he was still interested in looking at it. Brian told me to ask the guy if we could pay him in cash for an amount which was almost half of what he was asking. So I called this guy back, and to my surprise, he accepted our offer! He and his wife were trying to move to Alaska and needed to get the arcade sold, and I guess he was desperate! So Brian and I dropped everything and drove up to Draper to take a look at this arcade. Brian had always wanted a vintage Star Wars arcade with vector graphics, and now was his chance to get one!
When we got there, we saw that it was in really good condition! The guy was still good to accept our offer, and needless to say, we bought the arcade! Ben and Emily VERY KINDLY let us borrow their van to transport the thing home. And then Ben offered to help us get it into the house. There was no way I could have helped Brian lift the thing without going into labor! It was really heavy! So Ben's help was very much appreciated. Once in the house, we let Bubby have the first play on it. He was elated! THANK YOU BEN AND EMILY FOR YOUR HELP!!!
After watching Bubby play the arcade, Vaughn was ready to give it a try. We let him play it that afternoon when we got back, and he loved it! Then we put him down for a nap, and the first thing he did when he got up from his nap was throw off his blankets, jump up as fast as he could, and he ran full speed at the arcade screaming. He kept pointing at the pictures on the side and making the Darth Vader sound. It was too much!
The next morning, Tuesday the 19th of February, we all got up to get ready for my doctor's appointment for the gender ultrasound. It was all we could do to get Vaughn dressed. He insisted on playing the arcade, and when we initially told him "no" he went into a fit! Now we're not "soft" when it comes to discipline, but you should have seen the look on Vaughn's face! It was enough to make a grown man weep! (I think I may have seen Brian shed one tear). So we agreed that we would let him play because it was new and he was really excited, hoping that the excitement would wear off soon!
Vaughn really got into the game. He was making all sorts of weird faces while he played, especially when he was trying to avoid getting hit. I couldn't duplicate his faces if I tried, so I had to show you instead! We couldn't stop laughing at him!
Vaughn kept moving his head back and forth like he was actually in a tie fighter. He was concentrating so hard, and holding the handles so hard that I thought he might cut off the circulation in his hands!
We don't know how he did it, but at one point Vaughn actually blew up the Death Star! This is the face he made when he did it! I think at this point I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe!
This is just a view of the game. I actually think the vector graphics are really cool.
Vaughn got everything down to a science, including his game stance. He wanted to make sure he had sure footing for the tough spots. I CAN'T TAKE IT!!!
We eventually had to physically detach Vaughn from the arcade so we could go to the doctor for our gender ultrasound. Above are pictures taken during the ultrasound of our little baby. And...WE'RE HAVING ANOTHER BOY!!! Brian and I were both a little shocked when we found out because we were pretty convinced it was a girl. I haven't been nearly as sick with this pregnancy, so we just assumed the baby was a girl. But it was more than obvious what gender the baby was when the ultrasound was done. It was as if that little guy was sitting right on top of a camera spread-eagle to make sure we knew! Anyway, sorry to gross you out. But it was cute because we saw his cute little bum for the first time! So Vaughn is going to have a little brother! That's crazy! What am I going to do with house full of guys?!?!
Later that evening we went over to Brian's parents' house again. And before you think we live there, we have to explain that Brian's sister Linda and her husband Danny and their kids are currently living there until they can sell their home in Boise and get into a new one down here. We like to go over there so Vaughn can play with his cousins. (We also like to see Brian's family!) But it is good for Vaughn to have interaction with other kids to try to get him over being so shy.
From left to right are Lorna, Alvin, Vaughn and Kalel. Vaughn really likes Kal, and enjoys playing with him whenever we go over to visit. Kal is always excited to see Vaughn, or "Bon" as he calls him. He is a good friend to Vaughn.
We were happy to see that Michelle and Tyler and their kids were there that evening again! Michelle and Tyler own a business where they make corsets. Pretty interesting, huh? But they're actually really cool and modest too! Michelle brought over a few for Linda to try on, and here she is getting Linda laced up!
Tyler and Michelle are talented, aren't they? And isn't Linda GORGEOUS?!?! AND I want to point out that Linda looks this good after having THREE KIDS! AMAZING! If only I could say the same about me!
Here's Linda again in a rather sassy pose. You're quite the little tiger, aren't you Linda?!?!
Here's another corset combo that Linda tried on.
I think Tyler and Michelle need to use Linda as a model on their website!
Remember little Todd from the last entry? Well here he is a week later and with much shorter hair! Yep, those baby curls are gone! He looked like a big boy, and he was so cute!
And speaking of cute... here's one for the road...
You're soon to be a big brother Vaughn!
Love, Lisa
