Mom & Dad Higginson go to Tonga, &
a Visit with Grandma Oviatt
a Visit with Grandma Oviatt
April 13th - April 19th
On Sunday, April 13th, we drove Brian's parents up to the airport in Salt Lake City to see them off on their trip to Tonga and New Zealand. They went to visit Michael and Marci and their kids who were serving a dental mission in Tonga at the time. We were glad that we were able to drive them there and say goodbye, since they were going to be going for about three weeks or so.
Vaughn was of course very emotional because he doesn't like people to leave. I was emotional too just because Mom and Dad had been back from seminars for only a week, and then they were off again! I'm sure they left with mixed emotions...being excited to see Michael and Marci and the kids, but also wanting to be at home after traveling for over two months on seminars.
But it was also exciting for them because they would be able to see New Zealand, which is where Dad Higginson served his mission many years ago. They were also looking forward to seeing a display inside the New Zealand Visitor's Center that Brian had helped design for our church! We were sad to see them go, but also glad for the experiences that awaited them!
We were glad that Mom and Dad had asked us to drive them up to the airport because it gave us the perfect opportunity to take the evening to spend with Grandma Oviatt! We were excited to see her because it had been a while since we'd been to her new house. Grandma knew the perfect "toy" to get out for Vaughn....a piggy bank! But this was no ordinary piggy bank.
This piggy bank had a hand that would emerge from inside and take the coin and disappear with it! Vaughn was absolutely obsessed with it! He spent basically the entire evening putting coins in the slot and watching the hand emerge and steal them!
Here he is watching very intently. Grandma Oviatt got out a cup with change in it so Vaughn could have a good supply of coins to use. We all enjoyed watching Vaughn and also watching the hand at work.
And here's me and Grandma! I wish Grandma had been in front of me because my belly was totally overshadowing her! It made me look like a giant! And by the way, that color is great on you Grandma! Thanks for having us over!
On Monday, April 14th, we went over to Brian's parents' house in Springville for some fun. I decided to make enchiladas that night for everyone, and we really enjoyed it! (My sister Laura thinks it's really funny that I take pictures of food).
That Thursday, April 17th, Brian's sister Linda came over with her kids for some play time during the day. It is always a blast to spend time with Linda, and Vaughn loves to play with her kids, especially her oldest Kal. Above is Kal diving into Vaughn's toy box.
Lorna wanted to watch Sleeping Beauty, so we put it on for her. Of course Little Lampateeze wanted in on the fun, so we propped him up on the couch with a Pooh Bear and gave him a drink while he enjoyed the show!
I'll end this short entry with a picture of Vaughn watching the show as well. He was extremely tired and very near his nap time!
Love, Lisa
